Description
A combustion leak tester is a vital diagnostic tool used to detect breaches between the engine’s combustion chamber and cooling system - typically caused by blown cylinder head gaskets, warped blocks, or cracked cylinder heads. It works by sampling coolant and revealing the presence of exhaust gases via chemical reaction, making it a trusted asset for accurate, rapid engine diagnosis.
Ideal for both petrol and diesel vehicles, it helps mechanics save time, avoid unnecessary disassembly, and reduce misdiagnosis.
Key Features of the Standard Model
- Rapid Diagnosis: Quickly identifies combustion gas leaks to pinpoint cylinder head gasket failures.
- Versatile Connector Compatibility: Features a quick connector compatible with Sykes-Pickavant cap adapters (315, 316, 317 series), enabling flexible fit across multiple vehicles.
-
Dual Fluid Sensitivity: Supplied with both standard and sensitive reaction test fluids allowing for accurate detection under various conditions.
-
Fits Petrol & Diesel Engines: Suitable for testing across a range of vehicle types and fuel systems.
-
Refillable & Reusable: Compatible with separately available replacement fluids in both standard and sensitive formulations
How It Works
- Prepare the tester with either standard or sensitive reaction fluid depending on how much sensitivity is needed.
- Connect the quick connector to the radiator cap or expansion tank using a compatible adapter.
- Run the engine to let any combustion gases pass through the tool.
- Observe the fluid - a visible color change indicates combustion gases have entered the cooling system, confirming a leak.
